PART 1
Terms from the report
- AI Visibility Score (AVS)
- A score from 0 to 100 that CompanyNow calculates from four components: AVS = 0.4 × BQP + 0.3 × RST + 0.2 × REC + 0.1 × CMP.
- BQP: how often AI names the company
- The share of answers to customer questions in which the company name appears.
- RST: how strongly AI recommends the company
- The average score for the recommendation level in the answers: first choice 100, recommendation with a reason 75, position on a list 50, passing mention 25, no name 0.
- REC: what AI remembers about the company
- What an AI system knows about the company when it answers without searching the internet.
- CMP: what AI understands from the website
- How many of the five pieces of information on the company website reach the crawler of each AI system.
- Score bands
- Five ranges of the score: 0–14 Invisible to AI, 15–34 Rarely recommended, 35–54 Occasionally recommended, 55–74 Consistently recommended, 75–100 Category leader.
- Customer questions
- Questions that customers ask when they look for a company in a given industry, without company names. Most of the survey is based on them.
- Questions about the company
- Questions about the company by name, asked without search; we compare the answers with the company website.
- Answer with and without search
- An answer with search shows what AI finds on the internet; an answer without search shows what AI remembers.
- AI crawlers
- Programs of AI systems that fetch web pages: indexing crawlers build the search index, answering crawlers read a page at the moment of a question, training crawlers collect content for training models.
- Four thresholds
- The points at which information from the website may fail to reach AI: access, reach, reading, understanding.
- Evidence number
- The number of an AI answer in the archive; every quote in the report carries one.
- Survey card
- The part of the report with the models, date, location and completeness of the measurement; in the Full report also the variability of answers between runs.
- Variability threshold
- The difference in score below which a change falls within the normal variability of AI answers and does not mean a change in visibility.
- Action plan
- Tasks from the survey with an owner, order and effort, in three areas: access, content, reach.
- Repeat survey
- One measurement on the same set of questions, no earlier than after 90 days, with a verdict for every task: Worked, No improvement, Not done.
- Monitoring
- Four measurements a year on the same set of questions, plus an extra measurement when a provider changes its default model.
PART 2
Market terms
- AI visibility audit
- A market name for a survey of whether AI systems name a company in their answers. At CompanyNow it corresponds to the AI Brand Visibility Report: Basic €61, Full €220, Premium from €559 (net).
- AI Visibility Score (AVS)
- The English name of the score we show on the report cover. See the definition under “Terms from the report”.
- GEO audit
- A market term for an analysis of generative engine optimization, meaning a brand’s visibility in answers generated by AI. At CompanyNow, the AI Brand Visibility Report provides this analysis.
- AEO
- AEO, or answer engine optimization, describes actions that increase the chance of a brand appearing in the answers of systems that respond to user questions. CompanyNow does not carry out these actions; it measures their effect and provides an action plan.
- Generative engine optimization
- The English name for actions related to a brand’s visibility in AI-generated answers.
- LLM mention monitoring
- Regularly checking whether language models name a company or brand in their answers to user questions. At CompanyNow it corresponds to Monitoring: four measurements a year on the same set of questions.
- Share of Answer
- How often a company or brand appears in AI answers compared with competitors, for the same set of questions. In the CompanyNow report it corresponds to the company’s share of answers in the section “Which companies appear in AI answers”.
- Share of model
- A market term for a brand’s share of the answers of one AI model. The Premium report gives a score for each model separately.
- Brand reputation in AI

- Ranking in ChatGPT
- A colloquial term for actions that increase the chance that a brand is named in a ChatGPT answer. AI answers have no fixed ranking, so we measure the company’s presence across many answers to a set of questions, not a single position.
- AI brand monitoring tool
- A tool for observing whether and how a company appears in answers generated by models. CompanyNow does not sell a tool; it sells survey reports and Monitoring, meaning four measurements a year.
- Purchase questions
- Queries from users who compare companies, products or services before making a decision. In the report we call them customer questions.
